come away with me

These absolutely beautiful avatar designs are by Meilo Minotaur and are available free of charge at ReMood United (although I think they more than deserve some L$-lovin’ in the tip jar if you can.) The extensive pack includes skins, shapes and many clothing/accessory items for both male and female avatars – I’ve only pictured a couple of the fab options available.

Also within the pack is an invitation to visit the Delicatessen sim which contains many more free works of avatar art from Meta-Body I & II. I’ve been on a bit of a building frenzy of late so I haven’t done much in-world exploring but I popped over to the sim earlier today and my word but it is stunning. There are places in SL that take my breath away with their originality and beauty and this is definitely one of them. It’s also a reminder that I need to stop off my platform a lot more often! I’m going to treat myself to a proper visit very soon and, if you love art in SL, I highly recommend you treat yourselves too!

If you’re still looking for Halloween inspiration, you should really check out what MadPea has to offer on the Marketplace – they have two stores there: older items and more current ones – there is something for all budgets and, being MadPea, the items are quirky and packed with the kind of atmosphere perfect for this time of year.

Wondering where I am in the picture? Well.. I’m the table.. this fab avatar is just L$10 and I am totally in love with it..

..because it’s totally random and fun to just blend into your surroundings (assuming your surroundings make flesh-eating pies on period furniture seem normal!)

I scuttled off to take this picture at the creepily fantastic Bentham Manor, which is part of the Green Mire II Hunt. Today is the last day Green Mire is open and the last day of the hunt so make sure you wrap everything up and grab your last photo opportunities while you can – there are also two new gifts to pick up if you’re in Madpea’s free-to-join group:

Pea in Captivity Necklace
MadPea 8000 Watch

Lots, lots more is coming in November, including MadPea’s first adult only hunt – Blood Letters – I’ll be bringing you details soon, or you can always check out their awesome  official blog!

Have a spooktacular time, everyone!

I Want to Believe

I want to believeMadPea’s latest hunt Green Mire II – The Gathering is well under way – I had huge fun following it, especially as it’s not the traditional hunt we’ve become accustomed to where you hop from sim to sim looking for the same hidden object. Instead you wear a HUD and follow the story of the path you’ve chosen – the object (or person!) you’re looking for can vary greatly from place to place as you’re basically tracking down clues as you become immersed in the unfolding tale.

Some of the items can be challenging to find but there is always lots of friendly help in the MadPea group should you need it and, because the story is so engaging, I found that took a lot of the usual hunt frustration out of it as you really feel involved with what you’re doing. I completed both paths and I think the time commitment amounted to a few hours (I completed it in stages and had a good look around some fab sims I’d not seen before!) – you can always go back to where you left off, too, so it’s easy to just dip in and out as suits you. The hunt runs until October 30th so there is still plenty of time to take part at your leisure!

The HUDs cost just L$100 each with loads of prizes awaiting you at the end of each path – grab the one(s) you want at the starting location in the Green Mire.

You can also read an introduction to the hunt over on the MadPea blog here.

Scroll down for more pics & credits and, if you do decide to take part, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

To coincide with the hunt, some new Peawear has been released to really help you feel the part. It’s great-looking mesh with options for both guys and gals:

Quoth the MadPea, “Please don’t eat me!”

Quoth the MadPea

MadPea has recently made a whole bunch of their older items available on the Marketplace for prices ranging from L$10L$100. They are a eclectic collection of Stuff and Things from past games and hunts created before mesh existed and you can find them all in a store named MadPea Productions’ old items. If you’ve been following MadPea for a while I’m sure many of these items will make you nostalgic.. but there is plenty to appreciate for the new player, too!

I was immediately drawn to the raven avatar as they are my very favourite bird.. and it is delightful! Included in the pack are all the usual body parts plus 2 versions of the head (with/without pea in beak) and a fab AO which has you bob and look around as you stand, hop as you walk and, of course, flap those wings as you fly. All for just L$10! Just watching it makes me smile – it’s really very well done.

I took the above photo at MadPea’s new spot in-world: The Green Mire – a dark swamp with its very own mystery. I’m still working through it (and I wouldn’t spoil it by giving out details anyway!) but you can read a little more on the back story over on the MadPea Blog. The Green Mire is also home to the MadPea’s mainstore which features their more current items. As with all of their builds, it’s a fun place to be whether you’er shopping, taking photos, practicing your detective skills or just looking for an atmospheric hangout!

Hope you’ve all been having a good week!

Caw!

The Cutest Invasion

The Cutest Invasion
There’s a Moosey on your Law-awn!

So, a little while ago, the fabulous Scarlet of Alouette requested on Plurk for people to do some pics of her Funny Puppet Fair item so that she could decorate her stall with them. Because my mind works in mysterious ways I decided to turn my Mooseys into a horde à la Plants vs. Zombies using mostly random items in my inventory.

I’m actually pretty pleased with the way the picture turned out – it makes me giggle, probably more than it should, so I thought I would share it with you all now that the fair is open. I’ve also added another picture of a zombie scooping up a moose that has made it to his porch and he is TOTALLY NOT GOING TO EAT IT BECAUSE IT IS TOO CUTE! Okay? Okay!

These adorable Moose are only L$65 a pack and include small and large holdable as well as rezzable versions. Funny Puppet Fair closes on May 25th and it’s well worth a visit – make time for it if you can.

Scroll down for full credits.

Undeadly yours,

MadPea: The Lost Mine

The Lost Mine 1 (Mad City)
Mad City

In case you’re unfamiliar with the name, MadPea provides some of the most engaging and innovative events and hunts I’ve ever seen in Second Life. I’ve recently been lucky enough to join their blogger group and I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of my love for all things Pea!

Their current hunt is The Lost Mine and it’s a total delight to experience. As is usual for a MadPea production, this hunt is more of a game than the traditional pixel-searching most often associated with Second Life hunts; yes, you do need to look for certain objects but there are puzzles to solve and places to explore too. I found it to be challenging enough to be interesting without being so frustrating I was tearing my hair out.

To begin you need to purchase the HUD available in Mad City. This costs L$150 and includes a bag you need to wear in order to collect your items. This is the only purchase necessary to take part in the hunt and collect your prizes, of which there are more than 20 – you can read more about these later in this post.

There are three main stages to the hunt: the first takes place in Mad City, the second in the Dwarfins sim and the third in The Lost Mine itself. The hunt HUD guides you easily through each stage but you can also find a detailed guide and introduction on the MadPea website here.

I don’t want to give away too many spoilers for the hunt because one of the pleasures for me in taking part in MadPea events are the surprises you encounter along the way. But, if you do get stuck, the MadPea group is a fun, friendly and free-to-join group that is full of people happy to help a lost adventurer.

Mine Entrance
Mine Entrance

Another thing that stands out for me with this hunt is the quality of the builds – everything looks amazing which is why I ended up getting so snap-happy! I have enhanced my photos slightly (because I pretty much always do!) but I took everything in the official viewer (on ultra) using the region environment settings and the raw shots don’t actually look that much different from what you see here.

Inside the Mine
Inside the Mine

The avatar I’m wearing is one of four available to purchase for this hunt (2 Dwarfins and 2 Peas), they are completely optional but a lot of fun to use. The Pea version includes a backpack that you can add tools to by playing the coordinating Gacha in Mad City – there are 5 tools to collect: binoculars, helmet, lantern, shovel and sledgehammer.

Deeper Inside
Deeper Inside

My little companion you can see pictured here is one of four available clue-finders.. again, it’s perfectly possible to complete the hunt without one, but I definitely found the first two stages less frustrating with my mini-me chatterbox tagging along. He wasn’t of any use in the mine itself but I so enjoyed watching his cute little feet try to keep up with me that I kept him rezzed.

A Beautiful Vista

After picking up my loot I hopped back to the mine’s entrance to admire the view once more before heading home to unpack my lovely boxes.

The Treasure's All Mine!
The Treasure’s All Mine!

These are only a handful of the prizes that await you on completion of The Lost Mine – there are over 20 in total including clothing, accessories, decor and more. You can see further prize previews here if you are so inclined.

The Lost Mine hunt will end on April 30th but, honestly, even if you haven’t started yet, you still have plenty of time to complete it – it’s a fairly short hunt that you can easily get through in one sitting or return to as and when you have some free time.

If you do decide to play, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have and keep an eye out for more fabulous MadPea events!

Love and stuff,
